Magazine Covergirl -- Lucky Magazine: Lauren Conrad (July 2011)

In this July 2011 Lucky Cover story which was shot by Ben Watts and styled by Michela Buratti, Lauren Conrad talked about how MTV's decision to pass on her new show was really a blessing in disguise. She said perhaps it all worked out for the better because "a lot of people in fashion don't want to be linked with reality T.V. Showrooms turned us down." The show which was supposed to be focused on Conrad's launch of her new contemporary line, Paper Crown, along with her childhood friends Maura McManus and Gary Samulian, was cancelled by the infamous network, saying that "it didn't feel like a perfect fit" -- you can say that again. Her would-have-been aspirational show would be completely out of place in a network whose all-star line up includes pregnant teenage mothers and orange and drunken guidos and guidettes.

Despite all that has happened Conrad just rolls with the punches and continues to expand her ever growing empire, which now includes her new venture into beauty products with the help of her make up artist, Amy Nadine, and hairstylist Kristin Ess. The launch of her new beauty website -- thebeautydeparment.com is just one of the several things we can expect from Lauren in the coming months. And with her independently funded line, Paper Crown, to launch as soon as July and a promise of a new beauty line in the works, I say she hasn't missed a beat and all without the help of MTV. Good riddance.
